Assalamualaikum ..

sorry to Arsenal , congratulation to Manchester .. :D
topik nih dibuka sehari selepas tewasnya Arsenal ..
cuma semalam aku tengok Arsenal mampu untuk menang game tu ..
cuma luck takde bersama mereka , 2 kali kena tiang / palang kann ..
2 kali juga bola terkena tangan pemain Manchester United ..
masa minit² akhir Mancheter lebih banyak bertahan ..
tapi kehebatan Roy Caroll juga jadi penyelamat segalanya ..

Arsenal v Chelsea: Preview

PA

Jose Reyes is back in contention for a surprise role in Arsenal's Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea - less than 48 hours after supposedly being ruled out for three weeks.

Arsene Wenger had revealed that Reyes was expected to be sidelined by an apparently serious knee injury following his side's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United last weekend.

However, the Spaniard's injury was not as bad as first feared and he was back in training on Monday, along with Fredrik Ljungberg, who was also rated a major doubt after the cup tie at Villa Park.

Wenger will not make a final decision on his starting line-up for the second leg at Highbury until he has seen how both players have reacted to the training session.

However, they are both in contention along with Ashley Cole, who also faces a late fitness test on a knee injury.

Wenger revealed: "They are all in the squad but I have not yet made a final decision on whether they will play.

"It was a light session and we will have to see how they respond to any pain.

"It is encouraging though as the doctor had told me after the United game that Reyes had a knee ligament strain.

"But it was the tackle on his knee by Paul Scholes that provoked the pain. He has a swollen ankle as well, but I will see how he reacts to training."

Wenger added: "Freddie has two broken bones in his hand and we will have to see how that evolves before deciding whether he needs surgery.

"He can play with an anaesthetic in his hand as it doesn't hurt or stop him from moving. He looked okay in training and we will see how he is."

Gilberto Silva is also back in contention for a starting role after recovering from the effects of his international trip to South America to play for Brazil last week.

Sylvain Wiltord, who has been missing for the past few months with an ankle injury, is also in the squad, although Pascal Cygan (ankle) and Ray Parlour (knee) are still out.

Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri believes Chelsea's season will be determined by their next three matches.

The Blues visit to Highbury is followed by Barclaycard Premiership games at home to Middlesbrough and away at Aston Villa.

Chelsea closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal to just four points with Saturday's 1-0 win at Tottenham, although the Gunners now have a game in hand.

With Wenger's men losing their semi-final to United, and picking up injuries along the way, Ranieri can only hope that the cracks are beginning to appear in Arsenal's all-conquering campaign.

"Everything is important now for us," said Ranieri. "After the Arsenal game we face Middlesbrough at home and then Aston Villa away and I think these three matches could be very important for us.

"Arsenal is a great team and I don't know how they prepared for their semi-final, but I'm not looking at them, I am looking only at Chelsea."

Chelsea have no fresh njury problems for the clash.

Reyes, Ljungberg boosts for Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Fredrik Ljungberg and Jose Antonio Reyes will be fit in time for tomorrow night's Champions League semi-final clash with Chelsea at Highbury.

The players were injured during the FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester United at Villa Park on Saturday, and Wenger feared afterwards they would miss the return leg with Chelsea.

Spanish forward Reyes was hurt by a Paul Scholes tackle, while Sweden midfielder Ljungberg suffered two broken bones in his hand.

But both were able to train today and Wenger has delayed a decision on whether they can be involved or not.

'They are in the squad, but no decision has been made yet,' Wenger told a press conference.

'They practiced this morning, but I don't know how they have responded pain-wise. At the moment we are waiting to see how they react to training today.

'It is encouraging because the doctor told me after the game (on Saturday) that he (Reyes) had done his knee ligaments.

'Ljungberg has two broken bones in his hand, but today in traning he seemed quite okay and we'll see how he is in the morning.'

Arsenal have the edge going into tomorrow night's tie after their 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

But Wenger insists there is no thought in the Gunners camp of going for the goalless draw which would see them progress to the semi-finals.

'We have an advantage, but we will go for the win,' vowed the Frenchman.

'We don't think it would be wise to try to play a 0-0 at home. Having said that we won't be opening the doors at the back, we want a disciplined performance.

'We have a great chance to go into the semi-finals. Mentally we have recovered from Saturday and we have a belief that we can do it.'

'The players have picked themselves up and have a great team spirit,' he added.

'On Saturday I thought the boys gave everything and we lost a game against a team that only had one shot on goal.'

Wenger went back on the attack against United, claiming: 'I felt United tried to toughen up the game, yes. Most of the time they tried to stop us from playing.

'The circumstances were bad, they got away with some bad tackles and the pitch did not favour our fluency. Being one up made them play defensively.'

Wenger insists Arsenal are unaffected by remarks from elsewhere about their prowess and prospects.

'We do not listen to anything coming from outside our team or club,' he said.

'We respect others' opinions, but have a strong belief inside - and we are strong.

'The comments from outside - whether well-intentioned or not - do not matter.'

Instead, Wenger is concentrating on the Gunners' enduring team spirit.

'What is important is how much we want it and how much togetherness we show in the big games,' he said.

Wenger argues in any case that Arsenal have nothing to lose as they approach the final weeks of the season - because 2003/04 has already been a success.

'The situation is quite simple. At the beginning of the season, according to everyone, we were nowhere,' he pointed out.

'So at the moment we have nothing to fear. We have gone beyond expectations and we can just make it greater than it already is.'

Wenger is confident too that his team are not yet showing any worrying signs of wear and tear as they near the end of a long, hard campaign.

'We are very good physically. Even on Saturday we were very good physically - although we did not manage to score goals,' he said.

'Physically there is no problem. Apart from Ray Parlour [knee], everybody is available now.'

Salam.

P/S: Real pun hancus...:p

Arsenal 4-2 Liverpool: FT Report

Thierry Henry shrugged aside fitness worries to haul Arsenal back from the brink of possible disaster against Liverpool to strike a hat-trick in an amazing 4-2 come-from-behind victory at Highbury.

Having seen their FA Cup and Champions League hopes evaporate into thin air over the preceding six days, Arsenal simply could not afford to allow their Premiership title campaign to drift away too.

However, as the half-time whistle blew at Highbury, they were trailing for the second time in the game to a Liverpool side intent on underlining their own claims for a Champions League finish.

Put simply, with Sami Hyypia and Michael Owen having been on target, Arsenal's entire season was now at stake but the Gunners grasped the enormity of the challenge facing them.

Most notably, Henry, who had already scored his side's first equaliser responded by seizing the game - and possibly the title race - by the scruff of the neck.

With just four minutes of the second-half gone, he threaded a through-ball to Fredrik Ljungberg and the Swede's lay-off was inch-perfect into the path of Robert Pires.

The French winger held off the attentions of Jamie Carragher before rolling his shot past Jerzy Dudek and the home side were back in business.

Indeed, just 70 seconds later they were ahead as Henry scored a goal of simply dazzling quality.

Given possession just inside the Liverpool half, he set off inexorably towards goal, holding off Dietmar Hamann and then weaving around Carragher before finishing with aplomb.

His third came with 12 minutes left, rounding off a move inspired by Dennis Bergkamp and, while the ball rather fortuitously rebounded off his chest, it was no more than the Frenchman deserved.

For rather than facing a particularly unwelcome `treble' of three defeats in seven days, Arsenal were back with a vengeance and their lead in the title race had been extended to seven points.

They must still visit St James' Park on Easter Sunday, with their aching limbs pushed to breaking point, but their self-belief is now back. And how.

Given the setbacks of the past week, Arsenal had needed to steady themselves at the start but they were almost immediately under renewed pressure.

With just five minutes gone, Liverpool were ahead as Steven Gerrard met Harry Kewell's deep corner and directed the ball back across goal for Hyypia to turn into the net with a diving header.

It was a soft goal to concede, with the Arsenal defence rooted to the spot, and only the last-ditch intervention of Sol Campbell then prevented Owen racing clear onto John Arne Riise's long ball.

Just as Manchester United and Chelsea had done before them, Liverpool were closing Arsenal down in midfield as quickly as possible.

Gerard Houllier's side also threatened on the break with the same pace and precision normally shown by the Gunners.

Kewell's volley was deflected just wide and, from the ensuing corner, Hyypia was again allowed far too much space as this time he directed his header narrowly over the bar.

Keeper Dudek still had to produce an excellent reaction save to deny Ljungberg from a tight angle.

However, Jens Lehmann remained rooted to the spot as he allowed Owen to scamper onto a through-ball and the German was relieved to see the Liverpool striker's shot clear the crossbar.

Arsenal needed a lucky break and, with 14 minutes left before the break, they finally got it.

Referee Alan Wiley failed to penalise Gilberto for tangling with Hamann and Pires seized on the loose ball to send Henry bearing down on goal before burying his shot underneath Dudek's body.

The temperature thereafter rose appreciably, with Gerrard fortunate to escape a booking for a late tackle on Patrick Vieira.

However, the Liverpool captain then produced a through-ball of the highest quality to put Owen clear on goal and the England striker finished with aplomb after losing his marker, Sol Campbell.

The half-time interval gave Arsenal the chance to gather themselves and, within five minutes of the restart, they had hit back with their two-goal blast.

Now finally in the lead, Wenger's side started to impose themselves on the game and Henry came within inches of converting a free header.

No matter. It was not long before his hat-trick was achieved as Dudek saved his initial effort but the ball still rebounded into the empty net.

Henry had responded to a possible crisis as only he knows how - by stamping his class on the title race. The double and treble may be gone, but the single lives on.

Henry set for repeat PFA award win?

Thierry Henry is again among the nominees for the Players' Player of the Year award at the PFA's annual awards dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Sunday, April 25.

But last year's winner faces immense competition from the other five nominees, Steven Gerrard, Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard, Jay-Jay Okocha and Henry's Arsenal team-mate Patrick Vieira.

It promises to be a close run thing for the Young Player of the Year title too, as Chelsea trio John Terry, Glen Johnson and Scott Parker are up against Arsenal's Kolo Toure, Everton's Wayne Rooney and Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips.

PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR (in alphabetical order)

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool): The PFA Young Player of the Year in 2001, Gerrard has continued to grow in stature and has been Liverpool's outstanding performer this season.

Thierry Henry (Arsenal): Henry has now been nominated for the fourth year in a row and deservedly so, his goals and assists more essential to Arsenal than ever.

Frank Lampard (Chelsea): One of the most consistent performers in the Premiership, and one of the few players in Chelsea's star-studded squad to command a regular first team place.

Jay-Jay Okocha (Bolton): The Nigerian international has become a cult figure at the Reebok - especially after putting club before country before the African Nations Cup earlier this year.

Alan Shearer (Newcastle United): The former England skipper continues to benefit from his international retirement, as do Champions League chasing Newcastle.

Patrick Vieira (Arsenal): Team-mate and fellow countryman Thierry Henry may grab most of the headlines, but no-one under-estimates the contribution of skipper Vieira to Arsenal's success.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR (in alphabetical order)

Glen Johnson (Chelsea): A few eyebrows were raised when Chelsea shelled out over £6million on a teenager with such limited Premiership experience - but it could be one of the best pieces of business Claudio Ranieri has conducted.

Scott Parker (Chelsea): Another promising English youngster who has earnt his place among the world stars available to Ranieri.

Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City): References are often made to his famous father, but they might cease as the new England cap continues to make a big name for himself.

Wayne Rooney (Everton): A Young Player of the Year nominee for the second year running, Rooney has lived up to the hype surrounding his dramatic rise to stardom.

John Terry (Chelsea): Continues to grow in stature both as a defender and a leader and, together with Frank Lampard, is one of the first names Ranieri writes down on his team sheet.

Kolo Toure (Arsenal): Has really made his mark in Arsenal's side this season, developing into a top class central defender and the perfect partner for Sol Campbell.
