Mention Proton, and more often than not the “power window issue” will crop up from both detractors and those who have experienced it themselves. Proton MD Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin admits that he has been obsessed with the power window issue since he came in five years ago.
The man points out that Proton has long turned the corner in this, and current gen cars are no longer bugged with power window problems. Generally, Defects Per Unit (DPU) has dropped to 0.26 in August 2011 from 8.0 in 2006/07.
But one can only do so much to convince 28 million people, as Syed Zainal said, so Proton has come up with the Power Window Promise to put this issue to rest. The main component in this promise is the Power Window Lifetime Warranty. A very unique warranty for a very unique situation in a very unique market!
Here are the terms. The Power Window Lifetime Warranty (PWLW) is applicable for all new Proton models registered from 1 September 2011 onwards. The warranty is for 10 years from the date of registration, or 250,000 km, which Proton takes as “the lifetime” of a vehicle. Also included in this scheme are current Proton cars that were still under manufacturer’s warranty as at 1 Sept 2011.
For instance, if a Proton Waja is two years and 10 months into its three-year factory warranty at 1 Sept 2011, it will be eligible for PWLW. The 10 years will be counted from the car’s date of registration, and if it has already done 100,000 km, the warranty will last for 150k km more, whichever comes first. But the said Waja won’t be eligible if it has been serviced outside of Proton’s service network at any time in its life.
The same goes for new cars. To be eligible for the warranty, cars must be serviced at an official Proton service centre throughout the duration. I also found out that from now, cars brought in to Proton SCs for regular service will also undergo some “power window servicing” which involves silicone spray to reduce friction, among other measures. Previously optional, there’s no extra charge for this, and is part of Proton’s efforts to improve itself.
Applicable to both private and fleet owners, PWLW covers four main components in the power window mechanism, namely the PW regulator, PW motor, PW switches and PW run channel. If your case complies with the T&Cs, Proton will absorb all labour and parts costs. There’s no limit on how many claims can be made per car.
Eligible cars that are in the “still under warranty” category explained above need to claim their Power Window System Warranty Registration certificate from any Proton service centre. Take note that prior appointment must be made. This process is not necessary for Proton cars registered from 1 September 2011, since the Power Window Promise is already included in your car’s service booklet.
“Correcting this perception is a challenging but necessary task, and PWLW is one of the initiatives that is being undertaken to put to rest this particular stigma. It saddens us that our customers purchase Proton cars whilst questioning the quality of our power windows, to the point that they refuse to use it for fear of damaging it,” said Syed Zainal, recalling a story we shared with you before.
“Our message is simple: Should you buy a Proton car today, please know that the power windows are working, they are working well and you have our Power Window Promise to back you up,” the boss confidently added.

tukar power window - dalam 50-100 ringgit aje, tapi sebab kene service kt proton SC aje.., setiap kali service on average korang spend berapa extra? berbanding service kt luar? rm50? rm100? - katalah paling busuk rm50..,, setahun korang jalan berapa km? katalah 60,000km.., so service tiap 5k - dah 12 kali.
so.. 12 x 50 = 600.. sebab nk dapat warranty yg kos 100 kalau buat sendiri..
worth it? sendiri kira lah.., for peace of mind.., it's priceless..! anything happen.. blame proton.
tapi kalau service sendiri., anything happen - pegi balik jer ler kt workshop yg kau percaya tu.., kalau workshop tu ok.., ko save duit jugak. klaau kene workshop kaki penipu.. kau endup spend lebih banyak duit dari kau antar kt SC.

kalau bagi kes macam aku ni, baik la beli je set yang baru.

ni getah pada bingkai pintu di mana menjadi guide kepada cermin.
adviseable untuk lembapkan getah ini supaya ianya licin dan mengurangkan geseran yang seterusnya menambahkan beban kepada mekanisma naik turun cermin.

Aku guna spray silicone utk run channel (teringat kat Emily Deschanel plak hehe) ni... selalu terjadi pada Iswara. Spray waktu tingkap dah diturunkan. Pastu test naik turun. Kalau masih melekat2, turunkan tingkap. Spray lagi silicone tu. Sampai laaa dah mudah naik turun tingkap tu.
Pasal Warranty tu aku sokong laa jugak. Tapi rasanya kete2 baru proton dah jarang berlaku masalah ni. Sepanjang 9 tahun saya guna Wira, dah penah kene 2 kali laa tingkap sangkut terus. Pastu pegi mekanik luar, dia tukar regulator je. Masuk upah baru RM95 jer. Yang saya tau, waja punya kalau tingkap problem memang mahal sebb dia suruh tukar satu set. Dia takleh tukar asing2. (ye ker? Sbb ni kawan saya yg cakap. Saya tak pernah guna waja).

Cuba korang cari kt jusco.. Produk ni nama - PG power window - aku guna ni dah 3 tahun lebih.. Berbaloi... !
Ada budak civic yg rekomen benda ni.. Kat 8thGCC aku ada buat review sikit produk ni.Ko picit kt channel getah tu.. Pastu turun naikkan cermin.. Ulang 6 bulan skali.. Insya'allah cermin lebih lancar.
Juga ada produk PG wiper clean. Tiap sebulan skali aku picit pg wiper clean ni kt wiper aku.. Sambil cuci sambil melembutkan silicone atau getah wiper kita. Hasilnya wiper aku tahan 5 tahun .. Baru taun ni tukar.

rel slide cermin kekadang bengkok akibat spot weld termiss semasa pembuatan dikilang ataupon eksiden..
klau ganti 10 kali brg tu pon klau masalah ttp ada baik tukar ajer pintu tu seketul...
untuk lancarkan run channel itu, aku sapukan pengilat tayar (jel putih)...yang mana ianya pun silikon juga.
Waja menggunakan panel plastik untuk soundproof dan nada masa tutup pintu yang Continental (agaknya laa...).
macam kereta aku ni, tapak pulley pada panel plastik sudah pecah lalu jem laluan cable yang menaikkan/menurunkan cermin.
motor masih ok, switch masih ok.

Power window kete wira aku pun dah rosak....kejap ok kejap tak ok...bleh claim waranty lagi tak...? tapi warranty dah abis lama dah...

Regulator tu yang macam dalam gambar masa awal-awal topik ni... dia yg pegang cermin tu dengan besi bersilang dan ada kabel. Motor akan pusing kabel tu menyebabkan cermin tingkap naik @ turun bergantung kepada motor tu pusing arah jam atau lawan jam (rasanya la). Mana-mana bengkel kereta boleh buat. Tapi make sure suruh dia check dulu yang mana satu yang bermasalah. Switchnyaaa kaaa, regulatornya kaaa atau lain-lain kaaa...

PROTON Engineer : After tens of years, we still cannot fix the power window problem. maybe we are that dumb, spoilt and lazy.
MD : Its okay, I know you guys dont have the brain to fix this problem. Dont worry, this is not an issue cos govt will always carry our ass. Lets just
give our buyers a VERY one-sided warranty for ten years. Owh wait, lets call it LIFETIME WARRANTY to make it sounds better.

apa dinyatakan...kereta proton yng dibeli bulan september 2011 dan selepasnya akan dapat jaminan 10 tahun ajer...bukan life time selagi kereta tu jalan..
jadi siapa terbeli kereta proton sblumnya misalnya ogos 2011 dpt jaminan 2 tahun aje sperti biasa...tak layak jaminan 10 tahun khas tuk part windows nie...

elok pasang bengkel yang terer wiring....biasa klau moto power windows takleh direk terus dgn suis..sbb akan spark kat tembaga suis tu menybbkan itam..
kena tambah relay...klau tiada relay lerr
